Franc Afrique is a leather craftsmanship and youth empowerment enterprise founded by Tony, whose journey in leather production began in 2011 after secondary school through apprenticeship training in a local workshop. Based in Kibera, the business was created in response to the high levels of youth unemployment and crime within the community. Franc Afrique produces high-quality, custom-made leather bags designed to meet both local and international market needs while equipping young people with practical leatherworking skills that create sustainable livelihoods. By combining creativity, craftsmanship, and social impact, the business is contributing to local manufacturing, job creation, and the growth of Kenya’s leather value chain.
